A City Built For Women. Women Gaining Respect In The Middle East

Saudi Arabia is building a new industrial city to create 5,000 jobs for women in the city of Hofuf. This is a woman-only industrial city. When I saw this I was shocked. It’s great that Saudi Arabia is supporting women’s right to work I think it is a little extreme but if it helps women have a fair chance to create their own lives, achieve their own goals, and receive more respect then I am all for it.

Even though the Saudi government is beginning to see the light and see that women should be treated light equals. Look what Title 9 did for women in United States. It’s the 40th anniversary. The women of the U.S. are beginning to reap the benefits. For example the women in the Olympics have won more medals than the men. Given an equal chance women will show their best.

The woman will sill be living under strict Islamic guidelines and will be built close to residential areas so the women will have an easy commute to keep up with their duties at home. Six months ago Saudi women began replacing male sales people in the lingerie industry and are not taking over make-up and fragrance positions.
