Fake a Glow

My favorite Self tanners this year is the St. Tropez system. They have self-tanners, gradual tanners, instant tanners, and great videos on how to get the best tan. The St. Tropaz system is fool-proof and your tan will be beautiful and golden.

Keep It Natural

This summer go for a new CC cream formula. This formula will help improve your skin, protect your skin from the sun, and give your skin a healthy glow. I like Clinique CC cream.(35.00)

Get Bright-Eyed

The best way to accentuate your eyes for the summer is use a nude champagne color on your lids, thinly line your eyes with a gel liner that won’t smudge and finish with a very light silver or gold shimmer in the inner and outer corners of your eyes to open your eyes and keeping them bright.

Stay Cheeky

You can use your powder formula on your cheeks when you first do your make up. When you do touch ups use a cream. It will blend in with your foundation much easier and give you a light glow. My favorite is Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks ($25.00)

Make It Seamless

Try an all in one stick to keep your look simple. I like Mischa Barton’s 3-in-one stick for eyes, cheeks, and lips. $20.00

Beauty Review: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Two Tone Mascara

I was working in Nordstrom last week for an event called Beauty on the Go. I was near the Estee Lauder counter and I was looking at their runway looks from fashion week. Let me tell you. Their National Make up artist is quite talented. I saw some amazing warm tones I am going to try.

Estee Lauder has this new mascara that is double-sided. One with a full size Sumptuous Mascara brush and the other is a smaller brush just for the bottom lashes. I chose Bold Black and Brown. There are other options. Bold Black/Plum, Bold Black/Rich Blue. I chose the Bold Black/ Brown shade because I wanted a more natural look.

The point of the tw shades is that the Bold Black on the top lashes lift and separate . The bottom lash color is what makes your eye color pop. If you have Hazel/Green eyes try the Plum, if you have Brown eyes try the Blue, and for Blue eyes go with Brown.

I love this mascara. There was no smudging under my eyes. The mascara was so light and separated my lashes. It looked like I had false lashes on. I give this mascara five stars!

Beauty Review: Best Foundation Primers

Just like you prime a wall before you paint it, you can prime your face before you apply foundation. Primers work much like a moisturizer under your foundation does: they ease the application of foundation and are meant to create a barrier between foundation and skin. They’ll even out skin tone, help your makeup stay on longer and absorb oil with salicylic acid.

Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer

The primer goes beyond what normal primers do because of beneficial ingredients. Fragrance-free. Lightweight, silky texture smooths skin and refines enlarged pores.

MAC Prep + Prime Line Filler

Rather than just being a mix of silicone and fragrance, this combines a dry-finish silicone polymer with emollients, film-forming agents, and copious antioxidants to help smooth skin, temporarily fill in superficial lines, and create an even canvas for foundation.

Urban Decay complexion PrimerPotion-Brightening

This formula goes above and beyond most primers. It offers a plentiful range of antioxidants, it’s fragrance free, and is great for oily skin types.

Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base

When applied to skin, the green tint becomes a pale flesh tone that provides a bit of coverage. If you have superficial, minor redness, you’ll notice it is less apparent, but that would be true for any tinted moisturizer, too. Anyone with lingering or persistent redness (such as occurs with rosacea) will want to pair this with a foundation that supplies at least medium coverage. One more thing: The finish of this product is matte. It can lend a flat appearance to skin that someone not bothered with oiliness may not like.

How to keep your summer glow into fall

When the weather is starting to cool down your skin gets more dehydrated. I recommend exfoliating more often. BareMinerals intensive Glow Pads are a great option. They bring back your natural radiance, improve skin tone and texture for a complexion that really glows. These pads are infused with vitamins and minerals to increase cell turnover and create luminous skin.

If your skin is prone to dark spots or is more on the sensitive side try a cleanser that contains salicylic acid or lactic acid.  These cleansers are a more gentle exfoliant. I recommend Pore Refining Cleanser by Neutrogena. This is a cleaner/scrub combination. It’s more gentle for sensitive skin types. No matter what skin type you are you should always be using a moisturizer to help retain normal, healthy, youthful moisture levels. Your moisturizer needs Antioxidants, cell-communicating ingredients, and skin-repairing ingredients. I recommend Complete Ageless Skin Renewing UV Lotion SPF 20 by Olay for a daytime moisturizer because UVA protection is sufficient and the texture of this cream is truly luxurious and works well under makeup. It has a healthy dose of helpful ingredients to prevent premature aging. For Night I love Clinique’s Super Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer. This cream contains tons or antioxidants which protect the skin from free radical damage and build stronger skin. Last but not least if your complexion still looks a little blah use a cleansing brush such at the Clarisonic once a week. It deep cleans your skin and the texture appears smooth and reflects light.

Why do women assume they shouldn’t use self tanner after summer? It’s the best way to keep that summer glow and perk up your skin. If you are fair try Jergens natural glow Express in  Fair to Medium Tones.

For olive or medium skin tones use a regular self tanner that will deepen your skin about two shades. works great. Apply the formula right after you shower or wash your face and skip your moisturizer. Apply the self tanner directly to clean skin.

For a sheer glow that is over doing it for the fall  I use a tinted moisturizer to add a subtle glow to my skin. I like Bobbi Brown SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer. The colors are exceptional and include options for porcelain to dark skin tones. To complete your look apply a peachy pink cream blush to the cheeks like Clinique’s Blushwear Cream Stick in Peachy Blush. Finish it off with a warm neutral gloss.
