5 Tips for No-Melt Makeup

Fake a Glow

My favorite Self tanners this year is the St. Tropez system. They have self-tanners, gradual tanners, instant tanners, and great videos on how to get the best tan. The St. Tropaz system is fool-proof and your tan will be beautiful and golden.

Keep It Natural

This summer go for a new CC cream formula. This formula will help improve your skin, protect your skin from the sun, and give your skin a healthy glow. I like Clinique CC cream.(35.00)

Get Bright-Eyed

The best way to accentuate your eyes for the summer is use a nude champagne color on your lids, thinly line your eyes with a gel liner that won’t smudge and finish with a very light silver or gold shimmer in the inner and outer corners of your eyes to open your eyes and keeping them bright.

Stay Cheeky

You can use your powder formula on your cheeks when you first do your make up. When you do touch ups use a cream. It will blend in with your foundation much easier and give you a light glow. My favorite is Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks ($25.00)

Make It Seamless

Try an all in one stick to keep your look simple. I like Mischa Barton’s 3-in-one stick for eyes, cheeks, and lips. $20.00

Ask a Make-Up Artist: Your Summer Beauty Questions Answered

Q: I love wearing it in summer when I’m at the pool or beach but, is waterproof mascara bad for my eyelashes? I feel like I’m yanking them out whenever I remove it. — Mary Jane

A: Waterproof mascara isn’t bad for your eyelashes. Make sure to be gentle when you are removing it. Use an oil based eye make-up remover and use a cotton pad to gently soak your lashes and then glide the remover down to the tips of the lashes. I always like to rinse with water after.

A great eye makeup remover is Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Dual Action Eye Make-up Remover Oil-Free ($22.00). It works quickly to remove all make-up even waterproof, fragrance-free, and gentle on the eyes.

Depending on the look you are trying to achieve there are a few options for waterproof mascara to try. These are my favorites:

Beauty on a Budget: Maybelline-Define-A-Lash-Volume-Waterproof-Mascara ($7.49) Great for more length and separation with a soft definition. The wand is rubber bristled and can be applied easily.  This mascara will not clump. I use this mascara a lot for photo shoots and private clients.

Serious Drama: Lancome Definicils Waterproof Mascara ($27.00) Length, volume, separation, definition. This mascara does it all and won’t smudge. A rare trait is that the texture of your lashes when dry, will be soft.

The Mascara For Everyone: American Beauty Perfectly Waterproof Mascara ($14.00) You need just a few swipes of this formula for added length and volume that lasts all day and withstands water. If you haven’t heard of this brand it is sold exclusively at Kohl’s. This mascara adds drama without looking very dramatic like the Lancome mascara.

Are you a (beauty) LUSH?

Oh, how I have been searching for the most organic, healthy, basic skin care products for myself and my clients. I was shopping with my Mom for Mother’s Day and we came across the store, LUSH. I remember this store only having homemade soaps. It had been a few years so we decided to check it out.

I walked in to LUSH and the smell of fruit, flowers, and herbs filled my nose. I was greeted immediately by a sweet sales girl who was happy to give me the full tour of the store. The masks were on ice because there are no preservatives in them, the moisturizers were soft as silk, and the long lasting lipstick was amazing!

I decided to try the Skin Drink facial moisturizer because my dry skin is always looking for a little thirst quenching. With avocado, sesame seed oil, and aloe it is doing the job. Ultrabland is a great make up remover and cleanser. This product is so gentle and cleans so deep that if you are breaking out using this for a month with clear up breakouts and soothe your skin. My ultimate favorite is Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner. This product is applied in the shower after you wash and is rinsed off. Your skin is left silky smooth and hydrated with argan oil, cocoa butter, and cupacu butter. For those of you who are really busy and don’t have time for lotion after the shower this is the product for you and trust me it smells divine.

I’ve never been so impressed with a skincare company in my life. If you have any questions about which products are great for you just send me an email. or check out http://www.lush.com

Beauty Review: Borghese B Lip Gloss

I love lip gloss. I have a serious problem. I am always looking for a new gloss. I know many of you have the same issue. It’s so easy to get carried away and not realize how many you have. Once I emptied my purse and found that I had 12 glosses in there!

There are so many different formulas. Every line has a gloss. How do you know which one to buy? A lot of companies claim to be more moisturizing, have more vitamins, more pigment, less pigment, anti-aging ingredients, sunscreen. The claims never end. I am going to try a new gloss every week and narrow it down to the best gloss!

First up is Borghese B Lip Gloss in Fiore. The color is great. A beautiful shimmery nude. Too much sparkle so the more mature ladies doesn’t have to worry about the sparkles. This is a very sophisticated shimmer. The formula is a bit sticky and when I rub my lips together I can feel the thick formula because it is a long wear formula. There is no sunscreen in this formula. This is a deal breaker for me. Protect your lips!

So, beautiful color, sticky and thick formula, no sunscreen. However it does keep the lips hydrated with Aloe, Jojoba Oil, and Avocado Oil. I give this lip gloss two stars.

Beauty Review: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Two Tone Mascara

I was working in Nordstrom last week for an event called Beauty on the Go. I was near the Estee Lauder counter and I was looking at their runway looks from fashion week. Let me tell you. Their National Make up artist is quite talented. I saw some amazing warm tones I am going to try.

Estee Lauder has this new mascara that is double-sided. One with a full size Sumptuous Mascara brush and the other is a smaller brush just for the bottom lashes. I chose Bold Black and Brown. There are other options. Bold Black/Plum, Bold Black/Rich Blue. I chose the Bold Black/ Brown shade because I wanted a more natural look.

The point of the tw shades is that the Bold Black on the top lashes lift and separate . The bottom lash color is what makes your eye color pop. If you have Hazel/Green eyes try the Plum, if you have Brown eyes try the Blue, and for Blue eyes go with Brown.

I love this mascara. There was no smudging under my eyes. The mascara was so light and separated my lashes. It looked like I had false lashes on. I give this mascara five stars!
